Guided by the outcomes of a public engagement process in 2013 and ridership data gathered over time, in 2015 Halifax Transit tackled the largest ever overhaul of the city’s transit system: The Moving Forward Together Plan.
As part of the Moving Forward Together Plan, we’re implementing some changes to Route 56 Dartmouth Crossing. The changes will come into effect on February 20, 2017 and key changes include improved service between the Bridge Terminal and Dartmouth Crossing and later service in Dartmouth Crossing.
As of February 20, 2017 Route 56 Dartmouth Crossing will:
- Provide direct service between the Bridge Terminal and Dartmouth Crossing via Micmac Terminal
- Run from 6 a.m. to midnight, Monday to Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday in Dartmouth Crossing
- Provide two-way service along Countryview Dr. in Dartmouth Crossing
- Run on an adjusted 30-minute schedule to better complement Route 72 Portland Hills in Dartmouth Crossing
Please note: Route 56 Dartmouth Crossing will discontinue direct service between the Portland Hills Terminal, Penhorn Terminal and surrounding area to and from Dartmouth Crossing.
